Payment Plan Types

The configured payment plan options are presented to the end user to allow them to purchase access to the product.

For example, you might offer the following payment options:

  • A single payment of £10 for one month’s access
  • A regular monthly payment of £5 for a 12 month period
  • A single payment of £50 for a 12 month period

You define recurring payments in your payment provider, but you define how often a payment is taken from your end user in the Zephr Admin Console.

For example, to set up a one-off payment you would define a monthly recurrence in your payment provider, and a One Off payment for the relevant product in the Zephr Admin Console.

The following payment plan types are always available:

  • Regular

When you select a Regular payment option, the Product Price and Billing Period are taken directly from your payment provider. However, you might be able to edit the billing cycles.

For information on configuring a Regular payment option, see the Add a Regular Plan topic.

  • One Off

When you select a One Off payment option, the Product Price is taken directly from your payment provider.

This option takes payment at the time of purchase and does one of the following:

    • Creates a grant if the end user does not currently have a grant
    • Appends a grant to the furthest existing grant held by the end user

The grant is valid for the period specified in Zephr.

Note: When creating the payment form using the One Off payment option, no frequency is displayed in the Select a plan options. For further information on creating a payment form, see the Payment Forms section.

For information on configuring a One Off payment option, see the Add a One Off Payment Plan topic.

If you use Stripe as a payment provider, the Scheduled Payment Plan option is also available. This is similar to the Regular plan, but you can vary the price charged using staggered pricing. For example, you can offer a year’s subscription that costs £10 a month for the first three months and £20 a month for the remaining nine months. For further information on configuring a Scheduled payment plan, see the Add a Scheduled Payment Plan topic.
